Associate, Database Developer
Role Description
The role involves managing the data structure of multiple development databases, and implementing improvements to the data structure of the production database. Initially the primary task will be creation, testing and running of scripts. As this process becomes more efficient, more development and implementation work will be undertaken. Possible future projects include involvement in the creation of a continuous build system, restructuring of major tables and accompanying refactoring of code, and performance-focused reviews of indexing and archiving strategies.
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with database concepts. Familiarity with Oracle is desirable. Familiarity with Linux environment and standard UNIX tools
- Knowledge of full lifecycle processes.
- Experience of SVN or CVS will be beneficial.
Business Competencies
- Strong academics preferred, ideally a good honours degree in a numerical discipline.
- Able to work competently on his/her own or within a team, taking a project through complete lifecycle.
- Be comfortable dealing with senior individuals with a strong client and service orientation.

- Must have a self-starting, driven, assertive and positive attitude
- Ability to meet internal/external deadlines
- Personable and able to demonstrate initiative
- High level of competency and good communication skills both written and verbal required
